Vassar has its place firmly in the elite college spectrum, and it's campus would suggest world class, rivaling that of almost any beautiful institution in the world, even Old World. The architecture is just that fabulous and varied. It carries itself with such extreme poise and variety.
Why not love Vassar College? Its academics are flexible, creative and rigorous. It truly shines bright. But in so many of the college rankings it seemingly underperforms. For instance in the US News and World Report Liberal Arts College Rankings, it doesn't even break the top ten. For many people who have know about Vassar College over the years or at least heard the name, this comes as a surprise. The institution is associated with many A-list actors and celebrities. The school does not live up to its reputation in that regard.
I attended Vassar College for my first year of college, and I must say that the school is great in many areas, but it does not offer the best support services for students going through a tough time. Overall, I want the best for my school. It's a school that I still feel some attachment to. And I want students to apply and attend the school because the school really does have some great things to offer. And students who have great things to offer the school will make it an even better place.
Don't hold back from going to Poughkeepsie, for a visit or whatever. It really is a pretty cool place. I knew when I was there and attending Vassar College, it was a pretty sketchy place. But things there are definitely turning around. It's going through a renaissance even, of sorts. That's what the Vassar administration says at least. I myself would like to go back and check it out.
I really have so much to say about attending Vassar, and really college in general, but I think I'll stop it there for my first blog post. Let me know what else you would like to hear. I'm thinking about going in depth on my college experience, or possibly talking about opinions I have or have heard about other college. Maybe other stuff too. I don't know. I think I'll shy away from politics for now. Okay, well, thank you and have a nice day.
Here's a picture for you of Vassar College for those who are curious. It's a building called Rockefeller. There's just such a diversity to the type of architectural styles one finds on campus, but they are all great.
